Update for the 2025-26 Competition Year
We invite all Middle School and High School students in our service area to compete each year. Start planning now and put a reminder on your calendar to return here to register for next school year's competition in September 2025! The deadline to submit your entries for the Voice of Democracy Speech for High School Students or Patriot's Pen Essay contest for Middle School students is October 31, 2025.
Congratulations to the winners of our 2024-25 Competition! VFW Post 75 First Place winners from our post level competition advanced to the District Competitions where they took 1st Place for Patriot's Pen and 2nd Place for Voice of Democracy! Our Patriot's Pen winner proceeded to win at the Department level and will be representing the State of California at the National Level of competition with potential to win the grand prize! We are very proud of your success and look forward to seeing great things from all of our competitors in the future. The field of competition was tough and each of the entries this year impressed the judges.

If you are outside of our service area, you may be able to find a Veterans of Foreign Wars Post covering your area through the national VFW headquarters: https://www.vfw.org
Voice of Democracy Speech Contest
Our Voice of Democracy speech contest is for High School Students in the service area covered by VFW Post 75 which includes Alamo, Danville, Diablo, and San Ramon.
If your are attending high school (grades 9 through 12) in our service area, please register via ScholarsApp (click the "Qualify" button after reading the provided information) to obtain your place to compete and submit your entry not later than October 31, 2024.
Patrot's Pen Essay Contest
Our Patriot's Pen essay contest is for Middle School Students in the service area covered by VFW Post 75 which includes Alamo, Danville, Diablo, and San Ramon. If you are outside of our service area, you may be able to find a Veterans of Foreign Wars Post covering your area through the national VFW headquarters: https://www.vfw.org
